Topic: Really dumb question! (Newbie)

Hi,

I have loaded SME 5.6 and its up and running happily., but how do I upload my webpage to the server. I'm used to NT and IIS, but there is no GUI to speak of under SME. I really want to change over to linux, and if I know how to upload, I will be extremely happly.

Also, If I have to use an FTP client, what port do I use?

Log on to your windows w/s as admin with the admin password.
In Win Explorer browse to your sme server in net neighbourhood. You should see smerserver\primary\html
Put your index file and web pages there. Remove the default index.html.

ftp://ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com

If you'd rather not have to login as admin every time you want to make a change, you can also FTP to mydomain.com/primary/html as admin on the standard port 21.

or better yet use WinSCP2 program to transfer files securely and disable FTP. It uses SSH2 on port 22 and you can login as admin or root with it.
