Upgrade e-smith

I have been running version 2 for almost a year now... a great product, with very little setup and NO maintenance required.  How would I go about upgrading to a newer version?  As I recall, running the setup program warns you that the entire hard drive will be erased to install e-smith, so can I assume there must be a different program to run to upgrade it?  Hope it's not too technical, as I am a relative newbie to Linux!

Not the hard..

To apply the updates, follow these steps:
Use the web-based backup function to backup your e-smith server.

Log into the e-smith console (Ctrl-Alt-F3, then login in as "root" with the current system password).

Upgrade the RPMs using these commands:
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/e-smith-3.0.4-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/fetchmail-5.1.0-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/proftpd-1.2.0pre3-6.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/dhcpcd-1.3.18pl1-2.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/bind-8.2.2_P3-1.i386.rpm
rpm -Uvh ftp://ftp.neurotic.org/pub/e-smith/e-smith-3.0/updates/RPMS/bind-utils-8.2.2_P3-1.i386.rpm

Execute the following commands (the last one will reboot your server):
/sbin/e-smith/upgrade-3.0-fix
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
/sbin/shutdown -r now
