Just managed to get the new 5.5 version installed.  Our last one which died way back in the 2.4 iteration I think.
We have two offices and one domain.  I used to be able to configue the old one to allow for outbound mail from our second office.  This new version has been giving me some problems...  i.e. It don't work.  Now I'm not a master sysop.  I'm just getting through the day.  I've read the users guide but it doesn't say anything except I can't do it!  Is there a way around this????
Thanks for the help.
Dave

Hi,

Actually the new version is 5.6, but never mind.  What exactly are you trying to achieve?  Are you trying to get mail that can't be delivered at one site to be forwarded to another mailserver on a different site using the same domain?  This is what I have been trying to achieve with 5.6.  Any clues grately apreciated.

Andrew.

You can't access the SMTP server from outside the LAN by default. Open relaying is bad.

See http://www.pagefault.org/code/e-smith.shtml#securemail to add secure remote SMTP access to 5.5+.
