Port Forwarding with in the network
« on: March 07, 2003, 12:17:43 AM »
Hello everyone I just downloaded esmith for the first time couple hours ago since then I have 2 computers on the network as server and gateway. My question here is with in Xp network places how can I get esmith server to show up there to upload e-smith-portforwarding-0.1.0-20.noarch.rpm. 2nd question is I want to be able to direct play games and host some programs I can't so far as it seems. So to install e-smith-portforwarding-0.1.0-20.noarch.rpm is the command rpm -Uvh e-smith-portforwarding-0.1.0-20.noarch.rpm and then where does it install it and how do I open the ports needed. Thanks in advance

If you have your network set up properly, the SME will show up in Network Neighborhood. You may need to look under "Entire Network" to find it. Make sure you're using the same workgroup/domain settings.

Yes, that's the command to install an RPM. If you install the "Update System" addon, you'll be able to install RPMs from your local machine via the Server Manager.

The port forwarding RPM will add a panel to Server Manager. Most SME addons that require configuration do as well.

Thanks for your response. Umm where can I find the Update System and what would be the correct way to install it will I be able to install it from a local machine or will I have to move it to the server and install it. Sorry I ask so many questions I'm new to linux and esmith. Have a nice day to everyone.
