question on /etc/ppp/
« on: March 10, 2003, 04:19:23 PM »
my pppoe.conf says:
===============

ETH=eth1

USER=******@****** (replaced with ***)

BOOT=yes
DEMAND=
CONNECT_TIMEOUT=0
CONNECT_POLL=6

PING="."

PIDFILE=/var/run/pppoe.pid

TERMINATEFILE=/var/run/pppoe.stop

CLAMPMSS=1412
#CLAMPMSS=no

PPPOE_TIMEOUT=80  <---- what does this mean? does this mean that every 80 seconds of idle time, the pppoe connection will be disconnected?
======================================================

---> i want to remove the timeout on ppp. because i noticed that after i updated to update2 (coz im using sme 5.5) everytime my network is idle, the pppoe connection disconnects. in my earlier post, i thought it was a problem in my isp but i found out that it is not! so hope you could help me on this.

----> ( if there is such a thing) i also wanted to remove the idle timeout on ident or identd.masq because its so inconvinient for me and the and the people in my network who are found of doing chat in irc. but if there is no such this as idle timeout for identd or identd.masq, then just ignore this.

Good Day

http://www.e-smith.org/custom will tell you how to customize the templates to your liking. Start looking at the fragments in /etc/e-smith/templates/etc/ppp/pppoe.conf/ and put your custom versions in /etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/ppp/pppoe.conf/.
