Topic: Update 2 and virus checker for emails !

Hi,

When applying update 2 using the 14 rpm packages, when following the readme at ftp://ftp.e-smith.org/pub/e-smith/update/5.6/update2/readme I only see 13 rpm packages install, is this normal?

Also, I am looking for a relatively cheap and quick virus scanner.  I have been using Amavis, but it slows down the smtp transaction to a point where my back up mx provider will continually try and deliver the same mail and time out.  It is taking around 30 seconds to complete a smtp transaction, from the point of sending the . (mail input end) to the 2xx response.  Granted I only have 32mb in the box at the moment, and if adding more memory may cure the problem, then I would be happy to try that some time in the future.  However, are there any virus scanners out there that will take less time to complete?

I don't know how well anything will work with only 32mb of ram, but our company is using RAV antivirus.  We bought it from MyEZserver (http://www.myezserver.com/) which is owned by Darrel May (I think), who contributes to these very forums.  We've been more than pleased with its performance, and it works wonderfully for viruses and spam filtering.

Darrel has made a server manager plug in for all the important settings in RAV, so it's very easy to set up and use.  The price is also great (be sure to convert the Canadian dollars to US dollars when you're looking at the prices).

Like I said, I can't vouch for the performance in your system, because we're running it on a pretty healthy server hardware wise... You will most certainly benefit from upgrading your ram though, in every aspect of performance.

If you live in the states that is. If you live in Canada I would leave them in Canadian dollars and if you live in one of the other many countries that don;t use the 'greenback' then I would recommend converting to your local currency.

I wonder how many "Iraqi dinars" to the "US dollar" ?
