Upgrade stops at "Partition Check"

The object was to update SmeServer 5.5 to 5.6
I have downloaded "smeserver-5.6unsupported.iso", checked md5sum against "smeserver-5.6unsupported.iso.md5sum".
I used Nero 5.5.7.8 to make the CD.
During boot from CD the process stoped at this point:

Partition check
hda:

I have tryed this with download from two different sources.

For comparison I downloaded "smeserver-5.5.iso", made a CD and a successful boot.

What can I do to boot with ver. 5.6 upgrade.

Do you have any extra hard drives installed?  If so you must disconnect them and remove any extra entries from /etc/fstab before upgrading.

I have only one hard drive installed.

 /etc/fstab  contains this

LABEL=/           /                  ext2        usrquota,grpquota        1 1
LABEL=/boot    /boot             ext2       defaults                       1 2
/dev/cdrom        /mnt/cdrom    iso9660  noauto,owner,ro           0 0
/dev/fd0             /mnt/floppy    auto       noauto,owner               0 0
none                 /proc             proc       defaults                       0 0
none                 /dev/pts         devpts    gid=5,mode=620          0 0
/dev/hda5          swap             swap      defaults                       0 0

I still wonder, there are no problems boot'ing from SME 5.5 installation CD and from the previously installed SMe 5.5.
Only the SME 5.6 installation causes trouble.

Sorry I can't help with the partition problem, but a workaround may be to do a full backup of your 5.5 server (make sure you verify the backup), then do a clean instal of 5.6 and restore your backup.
You may need to delete partition information on the 5.5 server before installing 5.6, search recent post for how to do this
It also on the e-smith FAQ page (re RAID drives problems).

I tried this after I installed and then removed a 2nd HDD. I also encountered these problems, with the upgrade unable to get past the 'non-std' instal.
Once I deleted all references to the 2nd HDD from fstab, and 5.5 from 5.1.2 upgrade went through like a charm.
thanks.
