How do you get outlook to save sent items in the sent items folder on the server?
Is this possible to do?
The only sent items that appear are messages sent via webmail.
I have a client that wishes to access his sent mail from webmail although it was sent via outlook from the office.

Thanks.

Hi,

I too had this oh-so annoying problem. There are two ways round it. One is to get rid of Outlook, and use Netscape Mail maybe, as this does let you do all of that and more ;-)

The other, slightly more sensible but not brilliant method, is to setup a rule in Outlook to save copies of all outgoing messages into a folder on the IMAP server. It's not great, I can tell you, for starters Outlook leaves all the messages unread, and sometimes doesn't download all of the required information without downloading the entire message, but hey it works, and it's what Microsoft reccomend on the support knowledge base. Hope that helps, let me know if you find a more ingenious way!

Thanks Matt,
I have implemented your idea and it worked OK, the only problem is that when viewing the sent messages through webmail, in the "To" field you get " "
Is there a way around this?
Also for anybody that may look at using this, I needed to make sure service pack 1 or higher for MS Office XP was installed otherwise the rule didn't work.
Thanks,

Bob.

Sorry Bob, I don't use webmail, so haven't run into this problem. It may be worth trying to sift through the vast array of issues at support.microsoft.com.

I was actually under the impression that in Office XP you could actually pick any folder to save sent messages to, at least that's what the cheeky support people at Microsoft told me. Obviously trying to get me to waste more money with them!

Good luck!
