confusion with rpms...
« on: May 14, 2003, 11:54:05 AM »
Hi,
I tried searching the dctc website but to no avail, so I have once again come here in hope of a helpful answer.
I'm trying to install DCTC (direct connect text..) on to SMEversion 5.12. I would try to use sme5.6 but I seem to have hardware conflicts so that options out of the question. Anyway, after I downloaded the latest rpm for dctc, I typed the following command:  rpm --rebuild dctc-0.85.2-1.src.rpm
and got this as a result:

Installing dctc-0.85.2-1.src.rpm
error: failed build dependencies:
        openssl-devel is needed by dctc-0.85.2-1
        automake >= 1.4 is needed by dctc-0.85.2-1
        zlib-devel >= 1.1 is needed by dctc-0.85.2-1
        libdb-devel >= 3.0 is needed by dctc-0.85.2-1
What do i do now?
I'm just beginning to use sme so this is all new to me. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jonny

Install the dependencies, try a site like http://www.rpmfind.net or http://rhn.redhat.com/errata.

I believe 5.1.2 is based off RH 7.1

Now would also be a good time to upgrade any errata packages for your system since you are probably riddled with security holes and bugs.
