webmail 'composes' multi copies
« on: May 15, 2003, 08:30:54 AM »
ive enabled webmail (sme5.6) and accessed from a LAN PC,
to check before accessing WAN.

when i compose an email to someone@mydomain and SEND it,
I get 10 copies of it in the inbox!
clearly after hitting SEND, the multiple copies are send one at a time,
and at the end i get a message 'the document contains no data'.

any ideas/comments?
TIA Robert

If the phpdate bug did not fix your problem,
this can be caused if you have your username
or email in a group. For instance, if you
send an email to webmaster@yourdomain.com
and you have username, as well as username@yourdomain.com
in the group webmaster file, you will receive 2 or
3 copies of the same message. So if you set up
an email list, you need to make sure you are
not inadvertently sending the email to a list
that contains a group that contains the address
to a group that contains the email address your
sending the email to.

Confusing?

If your username is set up as webmaster.
and you send an eamil to webmaster@yourdomain.com,
You will recieve the message at username@yourdomain.com.
So if you have an email list that sends an email
to webmaster@yourdomain.com, then anyone in the
webmaster group will recieve the email. If you
have an email list address in the webmaster group,
then imap sends an email to that email list address.
which then sends the message to everyone on the list.
If webmaster@yourdomain.com happens to be in the list,
then the server goes into a loop and sends multiple
compies to the list.

Webmaster group

username
emaillist@yourdomain.com

end webmaster group

emaillist

username
webmaster@yourdomain.com

end emaillist

Ok, I think I clarified this.
