Is there anything in SME server that' similar to Novel Groupwise. I was wondering whether the I-Bays were similar.

Gary,

What feature/function are you trying to compare to GroupWise.  SME is running imp (www.horde.org)  it is imap and/or pop3.  GWise can do imap and/or pop3.  I believe you lose the proxy feature and shared address/calendar features of GWise if you use imap or pop3. (Haven't totally tested this out)

Well, I was looking at a job description in which they seem to want Groupwise knowledge so I was wondering what in SME was similar that I could mention. Groupwise surely can't be so unusual that it's absolutely unique!

Essentially, they're looking for a system technician and I estimate that groupwise use would be a small part of the job that I can pretty much do with the manual beside me. I'm trying to bone up on that and (because I haven't used groupwise) talking about similar things I have used. Hence the question as to what is similar in SME (which I use extensively).

Well, you didn't say that.  Obviously the architecture will be different, knowing a little about edirectory would be good.  But, it is easy to manage.
Depending on what version they are running, I'd get a book by Tay Kratzer.  I went to amazon.com searched for Groupwise and found the admin guide for GWise 6.5.  If that's not the version you may administer, then try www.caledonia.net.
