Topic: KBiff & Korn don't "see" new mail

My server is 5.6U4 with various contrib RPMs (incl. procmail, fetchmail - but that's probably not relevant). On my workstation I run Gentoo (KDE 3.1.2), Mandrake 9.1 (KDE 3.1.1a), and Win98SE (for games...). I use Kmail under Linux and Mozilla when I boot into Windows. No problem using my mail accounts whatsoever - everything works just fine.

However, I would like use one of the mail notifyers which dock in the taskbar under KDE. When I start my session KBiff works just fine and lets me know whether any new mail has arrived. But once I am up and running I never receive any notifications at all except when the connection to the server is lost (cable fell out, rebooting after upgrade, etc.) or regained.

I use IMAP for the connection and tell KBiff to look into "my_userid@server_name/INBOX" and I suspect this is the cause of the problems - new mail arrives in ~/Maildir/ not ~/mail/INBOX/. I can't seem to point the program to the correct folder as browsing on the server starts in the ~/mail/ folder using the IMAP protocol.

Any ideas?
