Im at the root promp and the rpm's are on a cd. What do I have to type in ? Or do I have to send the rpm to a particular i-bay ? Please help a newbie.

I am pretty sure you have to boot from the SME cd or create a SME boot disk from the cd and boot from that to start the installation proccess.

I would probably do this remotely via WinSCP2. I have Win2K on my laptop. I am working on the assumption that you have a windows machine on the internal network.

You have to enable secure shell in the SME server manager. I have mine set to Private/yes/yes.

Find WinSCP2 via google, install it on your personal machine and log in as root with the root password.

On the left you can navigate your windows machine and find the rpms on the cd. On the right you can determine where to put them. You'll figure it out.

"Open terminal" and run the command line in the readme. It is probably something like "rpm -Uvh *.rpm"

You did not mention anything about portforwarding, so I assumed you were trying to install SME, next time try posting a bit more details then:

Use the server IP address as host name.

There is a dropdown for the windows drives at the top of the winodws files. Navigate, click, etc. On the right you could put the files in root.

I have never installed the portforwarding rpm.

Check the readme, but you might want to just try the server manager to see if the utility is there.
