probable hardware bug

I get the following messages in the message log once a day, using SME V5.5.

Before people state the obvious - "Probable hardware bug", I'm just checking to see if other people have experienced this, and what they did to resolve the issue, purchase a new motherboard, change the battery clock, software patch??

Please advise.

Jun 16 04:02:37 internal kernel: probable hardware bug: clock timer configuration lost - probably a VIA686a.

What mobo??  make & exact model!

Chances are that the mobo can be made 'more' compatible with any OS by installing a Bios update (assuming one is available); tho there may actually be a faulty part in the system anyway.

I have used quite a few 686a based boards for SME systems with no probs to speak of.

Gigabyte Motherboard Brand, GA - 7VAX Skt A Model, with BIOS Patch F4 (No updates applied to date).

guess I had better download the F10 and update the board BIOS

Gee, F4 to F10, I'd guess theres been a bugs squashed underfoot as well as enhancements in the last 6 months or so :-)

Let us know if the update solves the prob.

My server window closed over the weekend, and didn't have the chance to apply the updated BIOS, but I will post the result once completed.

As for the CMOS battery, I hope not as the M/B is only 6 months old?
