Topic: What happens to "ADD-ON'S" after an upgrade?

I've asked this question elsewhere - but haven't got an answer yet.

Now, I know that the V 6.0 is out there. I run V 5.6 at the moment. But I've installed some horde upgrades (kronolith and the rest...) using Dan Brown's excellent "how to". The reason I ask is that on my V 5.5 I installed phpBB (just for testing) but after upgrading to 5.6 it was no longer awailable. The files was still there but I couldn't access the pages any more (permision error). I'm afraid the same thing happens to the horde upgrades. That would be very bad as I have some users (myself included) that use these upgrades a lot!

Anyone have any experience?

Theres only version 6.0beta2 out, no 6 as yet.

To answer your question in specific - it depends.

To answer your question in general, Mitel assures their paid clients that "in place" upgrades are supported and will work with no problems.  For others who use the unsupported version and install contribs from a variety of sources, the answers are not so clear cut.

A relatively stock install should be little to no problem and the amount of re-installation and troubleshooting after an upgrade increases exponentially with the amount of customization.

While YMMV, my recommendation would be a fresh install of whatever version you chose, apply updates, then reinstall the custom apps you are utilizing.

mySQL databases move transparently, but IMP/Horde, firewall rules, etc are not so trivial depending on versions.

I could ask then - does anyone have any experience with the addons to horde and an upgrade from 5.6 to 6.0beta2 (know it's beta...)?
