Public DNS - again
« on: June 30, 2003, 05:02:43 PM »
Hello all
I too have searched, and found the thread . . .
http://www.e-smith.org/bboard//read.php?f=1&i=25048&t=24901
I've installed and everything seems to be in order, except of course the actual publishing.
The question is: How do I get on from there ?
I need to setup my zonefile to reflect a secondary DNS, since I want my ns1 hidden (it is not registered with the Danish hostmaster authority).
At the moment I have my primary DNS hosted by 'gratisdns.dk' with 5 nameserveres in the offing.
I have the possibility to change that to secondary, but how do I setup my own ns1 to reflect the secondary service so I don't end up 'cutting off' my own 'umbilical' ?

greetings
WyRon

Unless you really know what you are doing (and you wouldn't be asking here if you did), you are strongly discouraged from trying to do your own DNS. Use a service - they don't cost much.

...and some of the services are even free, like zoneedit.com.
