Stupid Newbie Question

It was the HDD after all. I did a zero-fill on it with Maxtor's own utility, and after that, v5.5 of the server installed without a hitch.

A bit late maybe but for future reference if anyone suspects partition type trouble then by far the best partition tool I've found is here...
