fax through email?
« on: July 14, 2003, 12:45:49 PM »
Hi every-one

i was wondering if anyone here knows of a way to send a fax with an email client like outlook express or outlook.

i have come across a site (TPC) where you can do this, but there is currently no supported servers in south africa (western province)

the only way i can send faxes via email, is by setting up a TPC server myself, for the western cape.
but before i do this i wanted to know if anybody knows any other way to do this.
the whole point of this is to cut down phone expenses for clients.
and also the clients that have an ADSL line.

the TPC web site is: http://www.tpc.int/
if anyone is interested.

thanks

matthew

yes i thought of that, see the thing is that, the fax mustn't go through a phone line but over the internet.
with the TPC it binds hylafax and sendmail, to work together.

Dynamic IP

I dont Know if e-smith can make an Ipsec Tunnel with a dynamic IP, but ipcop does (www.ipcop.org, ipcop.hopto.org).
For e-smith try contribs.org

You have to set up an account at no-ip.org, dyndns.org or some similar. They have dynamic DNS: You have a name "you.no-ip.org" associated with your IP "X.X.X.X". You download a software that everytime your IP changes, this soft changes the A register in the DNS so everyone can find you always. While you are configuring your VPN you can fill the dns names "you.no-ip.org" and "othe.no-ip.org" in stead the IP´s. (not quite clear, sorry)
IPcop has included a client for many dynamic dns services.

Pd: those DNS services are free!
