Hi I have installed the sme-squid-1.0-2.i386.rpm on Sme 5.6
It is working very well except that I am having problems with my auto-update for my antivirus and MSN Messenger both not being able to get out :~)

Has anyone had the same issue and resolved it?

in Server-Manager my settings are

Tcp port for Proxy (3128 or 8080):  8080
Ip adress of the proxy parent (if any) :  192.168.0.11
Proxy parent port (if any):  8080
Proxy parent is Windows ?  NO

In my antivirus options I have entered my servers ip 192.168.0.11 and port 8080 and then entered my username and the proxy password.

your anti-virus and msn Messenger, a must have proxy supported feature ie http, otherwise, you can't use it.

alternatively, insert your sme IP into your pc gateway.

Hi Daley,

Thanks for the advice but I must be doing something wrong, because both MSN Msssanger and my Antivirus Software (eTrust Antivirus) have a proxy supported feature.

MSN allow you to enter HTTP, Socks Version 4 or 5.

I selected HTTP with the port 8080, entered my user id and proxy password and also the realm of "squid proxy-caching web" but still with out any joy.
My antivirus allows entry of the ip and port together with user id and password, again without any joy.

I added my server address 192.168.0.11 as a default gateway as you suggested but still no joy I'm afraid to say.
