Topic: Damien Cutain's Secure Email Contrib & Mozilla

I've been testing Damien Curtain's Secure Email contrib on 5.6U4. Installation and configuration were a breeze. However, I can't get Mozilla to send messages (SSMTP). It times out, and doesn't seem to write to any of the system logs. I also tested with Outlook Express, and this worked, so it would appear that either I have misconfigured Moz (which I don't think I've done) or Moz doesn't support how Damien's contrib works.

I've searched the forums here, and couldn't see anything relevant. Has anyone else experienced this, or know what is going on?

I am using Damien's Contrib and Mozilla 1.4 for Windows (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624) and it all works fine with out any problems from day 1.

Thanks for your reply. Could you tell me how you have the SMTP settings configured, at both server and client? I can receive secure IMAP mail fine, but something is screwy with sending.

It is probable that I am not sending email over the ssl connection. But I am using the contrib for smtp auth, simap & spop.

Setup as follows:

SME-Server 5.6U4
 - SMTP authentication: Enabled (SMTP or SMTP over SSL)
 - SMTP over SSL (465) server access: Public
 - POP over SSL (995) server access: Public
 - IMAP over SSL (993) server access: Public

Mozilla 1.4 (Windows)
 - SMTP use SSL when possible
 - Default port

Have just tried setting Mozilla to use:

 - Port: 465
 - Use name & password
 - Use secure connection (SSL): Always & When available

Could not get it to work, I have checked and port 465 is forwarded to the SME-Sever on the firewall. SIMAP (993) & SPOP (995) all work fine......

Haven't tried Outlook because I have removed it and have no intention of putting it back.

Thanks for the information. I think Mozilla is designed to use TLS which Damien's contrib doesn't use.
