Has anyone out there ever got geeklog install on a e-smith 5.6 server
successfully? I been trying for 2 months now without success. If any one knows how or a link to a howto (other than the 5.1.2 version which don't work on 5.6 version of e-smith). I would certainally appreciate the help.

I have two Geeklog sites running on SME 5.6u4. One is the primary site, the other is in an ibay.

Anything in particular which stumps you or general problems? If you have problems with the MySQL database, try using phpmyadmin.

Cheers,

Thank you Kelvin for the howto. it got me alot closer somewhat now.
I am getting a blank success screen. pure whit  no text or images. just a plain white page. any clues what is causing that?

Hi Chev,

I need to know if you followed the howto to the letter or did you modify steps along the way to suit your particular install. If you did make changes along the way, can you let us know what changes you did make ? It might help track down the problem.

Hi Kelvin,

I followed the instructions to the letter. did not make any changes other than what was said to do in the instructions.

A blank page is usually due to a php error. Check the message log to see which file and line causes the problem.

Well after 2 months, several weeks and countless hours. I have geeklog up and running. the blank page was solved by taking all the single files out of the public_html directory and putting them in the /home/e-smith/files/primary/html folder. seems kind of messy to do it that way. but it works.

That was step 5 in the how-to.

Now that you have the basic install in, the fun part begins :- customisation ! :)

:-) well step 5 was not to clear. as it said copy the folder to that directory.
so that's what I did. did not mention that you had to then take the single files out of the public_html and place them in the /home/e-smith/files/primary/html directory :-). But all in all I am happy it's working and yes been busy customizing it.  Thanks for your Help Kelvin, I should do/did appreciate it.

Hmmm... a fair and valid comment.

I'll test the cp -R command again to check its behaviour. I might have to ammend the command to include a /* at the end of the source folder specification.

Thanks for the feedback. It's the only way to find out missing / misleading info and correct them ! :)
