Topic: problem console does not run up

Hi,
Have just got the version 4 release of e-smith having run beta 4 for some month's

new install went ok but at end of boot does not run console ....bind error ?

if I login and try to run console manually /sbin/e-smith/./console I get a perl script
error ?

has anyone else seen this or is it corrupt download although image opened ok ?

Please record what the perl script error actually is and send it to bugs@e-smith.net.

What happens if you log in as "admin".

I haven't seen that, and I doubt that you would have got as far as you have if you had a corrupt download. Please log in and have a look at the files /tmp/install.log and /var/log/messages and see if you can spot anything relevant.

working from memory at moment ............swopping drives in system ......to get back on  etc etc

further information to problem actual error at end of boot when console should
appear

bind:cannot assign requested address

then if I run console manually as root /sbin/e-smith/./console

Can't locate strict.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.00503/i386-linux
/usr/lib/perl5/5.00503 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.005/i386-linux /usr/lib/perl5
/site_perl/5.005) at ./console line 27.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ./console line 27.
