DNS mix up?
« on: September 02, 2003, 07:46:15 PM »
I can use lynx to bring up google.com from the server itself, and I can ping google.com or anything else from my workstations;  but anytime I try to use a web browser from any of the workstations it says the website (any website ) is unavailable.  I really dont get it.  Can anyone help me?

Make sure default gateway is set to SME as well as Primary DNS. On your browser  regardless of the earlier settings, if you put in a proxy server as the ip of your sme with port 3128 you should get the web although 5.6 used transparent proxying so you don't need to do that. You didn't say what version you were using though?

If you still can't get it then there's something deeper afoot.....

Yeah it was definately something else...  I've now got port 80 open thanks to some iptables work... i did "iptables -t nat -D PREROUTING -p tcp -m tcp --dport 80 -j TransProxy" and that set it.
But I'm also having a different problem.  My webmail stopped working.  I'm on 5.6 btw, and now when i go to login it says my login timed-out and reloads the login screen.  Also in server-manager i get errors in the right frame when clicking anything in the left frame.
"Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin@bhsx.yi.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log."

That's the error i mentioned.
Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

On that note I would get my install disk out and try again ;-)
