Has anyone got DForum to work on SME 5.6 or 6.0beta3? If so how did you do it. I'm having no luck at getting it to work.

very basic looking forum system. why dont you use Dan Browns guide to install phpBB2 forums. Much more professional system with decent management tools for you to maintain your forums.

Yeah PHPBB2 is REALLY nice. Here's an example, it has a skin I downloaded from http://www.wira-wwd.tk/ (not included)

I'd look at Dan's example forums if I was you Mark - gives you an idea of what a standard install would appear like.

I'd look at Dan Browns example forum - much better idea of what the standard install will look like and offer.

Mark,

Take a look here at the phpb2 forum.  This is the default version.

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/

It is fairly simple to install and you have the ability to change the look and feel by the way of hundreds of different skins.  I use it on my server and it has very little overhead and is written in PHP.

I HIGHLY recomend it.

Make sure and use Dan's how-to, however there is a newer version (2.0.6) that has some security and bug fixes that I recommend.  Dan's how-to links to the older (2.0.4) version so make sure you download the newer version.  The installation should be the same.

Good Luck,

Paul

I can confirm that Dans instructions work with the new version of phpBB - I installed it on a test server at the weekend. Sorry for the double post above btw - didnt seem to upload the first time so I rewrote it and tried again.
