Which version to use.

Which version would people recomend i use. It seems that mitel surgest people dont use version 6 as it's still in beta stage, although v5.5 and 5.6 do not seem to support ICQ and other instant messenger programs.

They also dont recomend using earlier versions saying they are not supported anymore.

Does anybody have an indication when a full release of V6 will be released.

I finally got in contact with one of the mitel partners local to me (Australia) but couldn't even get a price out of them for the full service package, i was basicly waving my companies money in there face and they didn't wanna know us..

Sometimes i wonder if the whole e-smith project is dieing in the arse...

Hi Glenn,

I can understand your confusion. I have been running SME/e-smith since ver4 and have also been confused as to wich way to go. It all depends on your point of view.
I have replaced a server running a custom 5.2.1 upgraded to 5.5 with a new server running quad xeons,5 18g scsi, megaraid controller, etc. Why ? Because I picked up the server for under $1000.   I needed megaraid support so the only one that would work was 6b3. I have installed it with patches from contrib.org, and at this stage it is running really well, no errors or problems. It supports about 15 users and motors along really wel...The only catch was that as the previous server was heavily customised, the upgarde was a nightmare, but I eventually got through it.

Regards,
Karl

hmm slight overkill there for a 15 user server dont you think!!! "motors along really well" - you almost sound surprised. BTW Anyone in the UK wants to part with similiar spec server for under 1000ukp lemme know - sure I can find the money if you have the machine :-)

hmm, yup, probably right, but then again, " room for growth "..... after all, it wasn't my money ;-)
