Topic: Locally Attached Printer Prints Rubbish

I've set up my printer successfully in the past, but recently I haven't been able to get it working.  The workstations can connect to it, but it only prints garbage.  I installed the driver on the workstations with the install CD.  I also downloaded another driver from the internet.  (BTW its a HP Deskjet 5652)

I've tried re-installing different versions of SME but still no success.  The only thing I can possibly put it down to, is that I've got a satellite receiver card installed.  

From memory, the last time I installed the printer, I didn't have the satellite card installed.  - Would this affect my printer?

The printer works fine on Windows XP machines.  My printer also supports USB, I've tried a USB cable too, but still no luck.

Any Ideas?

Then they have the wrong driver installed, or the driver is malfunctioning.

That's not surprising. The SME server makes no changes to the data sent to the printer, so if the workstation sends the wrong stuff, the  printing won't come out right.

I understand how it works.  But the same thing happens when I have the same printer connected locally to a workstation.  It obviously sends the correct data then right?

Also, its not just the one workstation that prints garbage out of the printer.  The entire network does it too.  I thought perhaps my printer port may be configrued wrong in the BIOS.  So I reloaded setup defaults, but still no luck

by process of elimination, perhaps the printer has malfunctioned ...
