Topic: apache subdirectory forbidden

Hi all,

I have my doc root and using .htaccess on 2 subdirectories of my document root with no issues and when I try to make a completely unrestricted subdirectory, I get 'forbidden' when I try to access the contents via browser, I have chmod 777 on both the directory and the contents, yet it remains inaccessible.  I have surfed for over an hour and cannot find instructions on how to resolve this.

Assistance would be appreciated!
