Limit Bandwidth on the whole connection
« on: November 06, 2003, 06:42:08 PM »
Hey There

I am very new with Linux, so thats way I tried E-smith. I have set up an server (server-only) to host web, ftp, email and bf. Because I am using my own internet connection I would like to limit the total bandwidth on the server. Does anyone knows if that is possible?

Best Regards

Have a look on Contribs.org or the SME mirrors and get a contrib named

eneo-qos_cbq-0.1-05en

That will do the trick

Does this also set up a page in the web interface for the config?

It doesn't seems to work with the E-Smith 6.0 Beta 3. As i can se on different forums there seems to be a problem.

Have you tried it?
Or anybody else.

I found another contrib which should do the same.

Look for  sme-QoS-1.0-6.noarch.rpmBill wrote:

It is build for 5.6 so i might want to try this version in stead.

I have it working on 5.6 - yes it does have a config screen in the Server Manager. It has an easy way to configure bandwidth and I'm impressed with it so far - I use it to throttle wireless clients as I operate a wireless ISP which SME runs without a hitch.

You can also download it at http://www.dungog.net
Just look arround on the site, it's easy to find.
Have installed it on E-Smith 6.0 Beta 3.
You can install it and it works but you can not easily undo the changes you made nor can you see them in the Server-Manager.
