Hello all.

Getting a broadband internet connection into my office soon, so I have downloaded the SME 5.6 ISO.

My questions are;

How does SME share the internet connection to the rest of the network (ie. is it NAT or proxy based)

Is SME suitable as a fileserver and printserver for Windows

Will a K6-2/233MHz do for 15 clients

Can SME serve a website with Apache (only *nix webserver I can use) if I have a static IP for the internet connection?

Also, the modem I have has a ADSL in and Ethernet Out... if I put two network cards in the SME machine, can one go to the modem, and one go the the rest of the network, via a switch.

Thankyou in advance, Adam.

Terry

NAT

Yes

Yes, but the server manager may be a little slow.  Add as much ram as the board will accept.

Yes, Apache is installed by default.

I have started. It just takes a surprising amount of time to read it all.

Thankyou very much for your reply.

Adam.
