Can emsith Limit internet traffic but NOT lan traffic?

G'day

Just wondering if anyone knows if esmith can limit internet traffic for specific IPs but then have their lan traffic be not limited (so unlimited speed for lan transfers). There is this script called wondershaper located here: lartc.org/wondershaper

But this does not really limit the amount of bandwith a specific IP (comptuer) can use for internet traffic. All it does is make it possible for you to web browse while uploading/downloading. All the software/scripts I've founded at the moment if they do bandwith limit by host/IP do it for ALL traffic. So LAN traffic is slowed down rather than a PC's internet traffic being the only traffic speed limited.

My housemates are using more than their fair share of the bandwith and are unfortunately not responsible enough to ease off. So looks like I will need to manually allocate how much bandwith they can use. I would like to limit their bandwith to 128kbit/64kbit (Down/Up).

Can esmith do this or only bandwidth controls all traffic coming from a host/ip?

It would be great if e-smith can do this...

Please let me know

Terry

Try searching for CBQ and see what you come up with.  It limits via IP and source port, that way you can limit an internal user from downloading speed via ftp yet not effect their http transfers, for example.  I think this is what you're looking for.
