Topic: 5.6u6 LAN access no longer working

I have been using SME for awhile now with no problems, but things have been acting up this week.

I installed emule on one of the clients and used port forword to get a Hi ID. I started getting intrution detection warning on my clients Norton Firewall and also started recieving NDRs in my inbox so I deleted the ports and changed all my passwords on the server, for all users inc admin.

I now have the following
PuTTY no longer connects to the server - but I can log on to it localy
Outlook no longer connects to download but appears to send OK
My ISDN dial-up is no longer bringing up the connection on demand, but I think it was connecting to download email, but I can't confirm this.
Web browsing is not working and DNS is patchy

Still working is
XP clients/users can still logon to the domain
www/server-manager
DHCP still being recived

Its almost as if the server is not recognising the local IP as local.

I am now connected to the net with a USB cable pluged into the homehighway box.
Can someone shed some light on this for me????

Just a quick update.

I have managed to get my ISDN connection back up. by using the ISDN fix for the 5.6u4.

I am still not getting access to email or PuTTY though

I would believe that theese problems is related to the Norton Firewall only. (Because this should be the only one, I believe, that has that kind of dynamic firewall rules adaption.). Try first of all to switch off the Norton Firewall or to make the connection from a PC without a personal firewall.

I have turned off the firewall protect without success. I can access the shares but I can not even get webmail to let me in. is there a CONF file that may be corrupted that I can expand?

OK I have looked in my hosts.allow file and I only have an entry for tftpd, so I expanded it and it still looks the same. Can anyone post their hosts.allow file so I can see a full version.
