Definitive answer on 6.0final
« on: December 29, 2003, 04:51:43 AM »
Hi,

Can someone kindly give me a definitive answer as to the status of 6.0final?  I know the first iso that was released had probs, so is it safe  to assume that the one on the mirrors at the moment is fine?

Are many people sticking with 6.0b3 "just in case" - like me?

:)

I downloaded the ISO and did an upgrade over a couple B3 installs without any problems.

I tried the first release that were corrupted and the next release that were "repaired".

The 6.0 final now seems to be working without a problem as long as you are using this as it is. On the other hand I think there have been made some safety upgrades that can make it dificult to use some of the contrib packages. (Most of them work ok.)

One of the changes I believe is related to the Horde mail system. I think the old installation used one "fixed" mysql password for all installations. In the latest latest 6.0 final this seems to be changed so it generate one unic password for each installation.

Because of this (I believe) it did not work when I tried to install aditional Horde packages to the new 6.0 final. I think there might be some other small issues like this, but I'm not shore about that.

The 6.0 final iso has worked ok for me. I downloaded it a week or so after the "corrupted" version had been replaced with the "good" one.
