Topic: sme client on sme domain - v6.0 final

I put in a new server as PDC on my network. I did a fresh install of 6.0 final. Setting it to server-gateway.

The old server (sme 5.6): I upgraded it to 6.0 and changed it from server-gateway to server only. I changed the name and IP address.

I cannot see it from any other computer on my network. I have a server, a win xp client, and a win 98 client. All see and interact just fine. But the old server cannot see anything else on the network nor can anything else see it.

I cannot even ping from the old to new and vice versa. It is in the same subnet, etc. I even put it in the hostnames and addresses in server-manager. Still no luck.

My ultimate goal is to copy the email from the old server to the new one. I realize now that I should have done this differentlyy to start with...but that is water under the bridge. Now I have this dilemma and hope that this will solve my lost email prob. Any help is appreciated...thanks in advance.

One thing:
I realize there was some post regarding some issue like this in the past. I have searched quite a bit but cannot locate the previous comments. I guess I am just not entering the correct search string.
