SME 5.6 local network not seen
« on: January 13, 2004, 02:30:39 PM »
I have some SME 5.6 in server only behind a firewall, this one works fine. I also have 2 other SME (earlier than 5.6) working fine in dual zone mode.

Then I have this newest install. It is 5.6 because I want to set up a vpn with the other 5.6. I didn't have an extra firewall or machine to dedicate to that, so I set this up as dual zone. I can ping my router on the external NIC, but on the local network, I cannot ping anything. All the other machines can ping each other on the local network, but they cannot ping the SME local nic either.

I swapped the eth0 and eth1 in the configuration to make sure it wasn't the NIC. I even pulled a known working NIC and swapped. I also used different cables and even changed ports on the switch.

Any suggestions as to why this is? Routing problem? This is a fresh install.

Thanks

Boris

What do you refer as "Dual zone"?

server and gateway mode. Turns out the motherboard was the issue. Same NIC on a different mobo and both eth0 and eth1 work. I tried all slots. The weird thing is that packets were going out, just not back in. pci bridge works since video card and scsi card worked...
