I just got my e-smith server up and running, and it was far easier than configuring any other Linux
distribution I have used, however ...
I need to run a few Xwindows applications. Any advice on how hard this would be with an e-server or
am I better off running a seperate linux box?
Thanks,
Karl

Karl,

E-smith was not designed (configured, whatever) to have the GUI. E-smith is a server "appliance". Unfortunately, you may "break" e-smith stability if the GUI and all needed support files are added.
We were faced with a similar situation. Solution: Install RedHat 6.2 (server mode) on a second pc, then upgrade the installation to include Gnome. If the application you are installing is that important its time to add another machine to the mix.
