I was haveing problems with getting the Web Mail to work, so I just put in another drive and reloaded E-Smith (great that it is so easy to install), then went through Dans instructions verbatim.  it seems to work now, but I can't get it to let me login.  I have checked that the user was recreated, and the password was set to that which I'm supplying.  Is there somethng stupid that I'm missing?

What happens when you try to log in?

The imp screen comes pack and says:

"Either you have logged in incorrectly or your login has expired. Please login again"\

then gives me the chance to TRY to login again.

Interesting.  Well, here's a couple of things to try:

1.  Can you log into that account using another IMAP mail client like LookOut Express or Netscape?  Be sure to use IMAP and not POP.

2.  Did you set the server name and port correctly?  Check out horde/imp/config/defaults.php3 to make sure.

3.  Go to the horde directory, type "chmod 444 test.php3" (without the quotes), then go to http://yourserver/horde/test.php3 with a web browser.  What does it say?

Oops
I didnt do the chmod 444, now I have and the test page returns........

View phpinfo() screen

PHP Version: 4.0.1pl2
PHP Major Version: 4
PHP Minor Version: .1pl2
You are running a stable release of PHP4. Enjoy the ride!
PHP Module Capabilities
IMAP Support: Yes
LDAP Support: Yes
MySQL Support: Yes
PostgreSQL Support: No
PHPLIB Configuration
track_vars: Yes
PHPLIB (is page_open() defined): Yes
I am now going to try to create a HordeSession class. If this line is the last thing that you see, then you do not have class HordeSession defined in the phplib local.inc file. Fix that before proceeding.
Created a HordeSession instance successfully.
Click here to test PHPLIB for Horde (If this link results in "Document Contains No Data" or "Fatal error...", then you probably have not defined the HordeSession class in the PHPLIB local.inc file).
Miscellaneous PHP Settings
magic_quotes_gpc set to Off: Yes
magic_quotes_runtime set to Off: Yes

Hope you can help
also, what do I chmod it to to return the test.php3 back to its origional form...?

Thanks for the input, Changeing the name to e-smith in the imp setup worked for me as well even though I had named my box something else entirely.
