Remote access

Hello,

In our small business we are thinking of using e-smith as a file server, proxy internet server and email server for our network. (We currently use NT and other software for this)

Also, when the server isn't connected to our ISP we want to be able to ring into our network directly from home and have access to the network.

We only have one phone line available and I realise that only one person could dial in at a time.

When we are at work we need to dial out to our ISP if the line is free, and when at
home we want to dial in to our network if the line is free. NT doesn't allow this (I'm told). So we are looking at the alternatives - e-smith?

When I posted this question on the new customer forum, Ross Laver suggested I follow it up here, and replied "There currently is no provision for dialing in directly to the network when you are not connected to the Internet. However, there is a contributed add-on module under development that would allow you to do this."

I would appreciate any further information.
Thanks,
John.

Im not sure whether nt allows this or not, but the overall benefit of having an easy to administer linux server compared to nt is enormous, it doesnt take long to see why so many people are embracing e-smith linux in the small to medium network tech market.

The modem does not answer at all....
I am confused as to why...
