Topic: swap space ?

My e-smith 4.0 swap space is !@#$%&&*. when it checks the disk it says something like:

Press ctrl-D for normal startup
Give root password for maintance(spelled correctly?):

So that is the end of this e-smith install. I plugged the hdd in my pc with mandrake7.2(good?) to backup some files but i can't mount it anywhere!

Tryed this ones:
/dev/hdb, hdc, hdd

with and without the parameter -t ext2

and ofcourse the numbers after hdX like hdb1 till hdb6.

When you make a backup does he backups webpages as well ? And Ibays?
