User Home directories???
« on: July 02, 2001, 05:15:39 AM »
In the documentation about filesharing, there are several references to user home directories in the example windows.

I've seen nowhere with 4.1.2 where this is an option.  The only shares available to the network are the ibays (and primary...).

Am I missing something, or are the doc's out of date?

I'd like to have home directories for the users in a file sharing sense, but not necessarily give them shell access.

What's right here?

the fileshares will be there but the user has to map them.
home directories are only visible to the user who is logged in.

You can force mapping by running a netlogon.bat script.
It's invisible but is located at /home/netlogon/netlogon.bat on the server.

If you set the server to be the primary domain controller in the web manager, any win9x pc that is configured to logon to the domain (set default logon to client for ms networks, and in properties put in the e-smith domain you have set and check 'login to domain') will run this script.

I did that, and now get this error:

"Unable to access the disk in drive h:.
Please make sure the drive is ready
and the disk is not write protected."

I have not set up any of the Domain part of Samba, so am accessing through regular windows workgroup filesharing as a legit member of the group assigned to this ibay

Configuring Samba for domains, is that an addon for the web manager, or does it mean configuring the samba config files by hand?

Thanks.
