Compiling Gigabit driver
« on: January 28, 2002, 02:07:10 AM »
Hello everyone,

Is there someone out there who help me out, I've bought a National Semiconductors gigabit NIC (DP83820) chip, because the vendor's site said linux compatible with 2.2.x kernels, well it ain't compatible the driver supplied was for a 2.2.12 kernel.
So my question is: Can some compile a driver (i've got the source code) for me, or is there a HowTo which can guide me through the process of compiling a driver.
Or has someone an already compiled driver for E-Smith/Mitel, at this moment the NIC is running in my second server on WinDoze 2000 Server and I rather see it running under E-Smith/Mitel.

At this moment I'm running 5.1beta3

some cards that use this chip are: Linksys EG1032, CompexFL1000T-PCI, TrendWare TEG-PCITX, D-Link DGE-500T, LinkPro TL-9000TX, Target GA2500T

Looking forward to your reply,

Best regards

Sure. Provide a link to the original source and remind what version of the kernel is in 5.1.

Thanks in advance I'll send you the source code tonight, and I'll check the kernel version of 5.1beta3.
Is there a HowTo which tell's me how to do it myself ??

P.S. This is what Linux is all about, helping eachother out.

Best Regards.

I already sent the sourcecode Damien, After this I'll find a place to download the RPM's so I can try it myself on an obsolete server.
And of course when the driver is working I'll send to anyone who want's it.

Thanks to all of you guys
