Telecom (NZ) Jetstream with Nokia M11 Router
« on: December 08, 2002, 05:23:08 AM »
I am having major problems connecting the SME Server v5.5 to the Nokia M11 ADSL Router (New Zealand Jetstream).

All this would no doubt be easier if I had a static IP address from Telecom?,

From the SME server console, I can ping the router address without any problems, but the test internet access fails everytime.

I have tried using DHCP with both send account info or ethernet address details.  Also tried PPP over ethernet PPPOE with little success.

I have not touched the M11 Router configuration as yet, as I not sure what to change or even look for. Aany help would be gatefully received.

Thanks in Advance

Nick

Nick,

Having a dynamic ip address is not a problem.

How have you configured the server??

You need to configure the external ethernet port

Server/gateway dedicated
static IP (even though you dont have one. TNZ use PPPOA. The account info is held in the M11)
IP address 192.168.1.X anything except 192.168.1.254 which is the external ip of the M11
subnet 255.255.255.0
gateway address 192.168.1.254

Hope this helps

Thanks Jon

Found the account information, reconfigurated and tested all OK

Thanks for your very quick reply.

Thanks again

I have a similar problem using an Arescom modem with MSN ADSL, which uses PPPoA.

I plan to try your suggestion of a static IP today, but the ADSL modem will still have a dynamic IP address, and I'd like to be able to use dyndns.org to point my domain names to this dynamic IP.

Is it possible to get SME server to work with dyndns.org, when configured this way?
