MindTerm problem
« on: December 18, 2002, 09:35:44 PM »
Hi folks.

I haven't found any usefull hints in the other Topics so I open a new one.
I have MindTerm installed on my SME-Sever 5.5 and it is running fine.
Can access the Server through my IE.
But i can't do any FTP or SFTP with MindTerm.
Other FTP Clients like WS_FTP do the job.
Must i enable tunneling ? I get the following error message from MindTerm when i trie to do FTP:  "cannot access file . " Then a FTP window pop's up an i can see on the left side the SME-Server and on the (local) right side noting.

Thanks in advance for help.

Or is there another easy way to get the possibility to make a file transfer from outside without to use an extra applikation. Just only using a browser ??

A couple of things you can try:

1. for file upload & download use
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/webshare/

2. for RPM upload & install use:
http://myezserver.com/downloads/mitel/contrib/update-system/

Hope this helps you.

Many thx Bob. Seems the right thing to work with.

I've installed Webshare with the Update-panel on the SME-Server and the log tells that everything is all right but under '/opt/webshare/' is no folder. But i created some folder an also added users to it but it seems not to work right now.
Will try to solve the prob. Or have you a little hint for me  ?   :-))

I installed it using the Update System Panel also. It created the directories /opt/webshare and /opt/webshare-tools. It also puts a new Panel in Server-Manager called "Web Shares" under the Collaboration heading.

You use the Web Shares panel to create a new wedshare. Creating a new webshare called "music" makes a new directory  /opt/webshare/music. You can then add and control users from the server-manager panel. Files are stored in the /opt webshare/music directory. You can then use it via https://yourdomain.com/webshare/music. Note that it is https not http.

That is how it works for me with SME 5.1.2.

If the installation did not create the directories then you should try uninstalling and then do a new install. Be sure to install perl-Apache-Htpasswd-1.3-10.i386.rpm first then install devinfo-mitel-webshare-0.0.1-3.noarch.rpm. If that still does not work you will need to contact Darrell May, his email address is in the README.txt file, for some assistance.

Yes. You really healped me.

But now there is another problem. I've tried to set the MaxFileSize to more than the 2MB.
But now i even can't upload any file. You now where i can check the config of webshare ? Some kind of ini-file ?

 THX
Guido

Try looking at the files in /opt/webshare-tools/ some of them have MaxFileSize settings. Otherwise contact Darrell May as I am not up to speed with the inner workings of WebShare.
