Topic: 5.6 - clean install + restore, or upgrade?

I've got at SME 5.5 box, with a bunch of third party rpm's (including mailman, securemail), php applications in ibays etc.

I've got some problems with mailman's htdig, some smtp problems with securemail.

Part of me wants to do a desktop backup, then a clean install with 5.6, then restore by hand all of the third party rpm's...

Or I could just upgrade.

Any suggestions as to the pro's and con's of each?  Recomendations?
