Hi SME users,

I have four SME 5.6 box. I want to synchronise user account and groups. Actually I just did the three other server from 'restore  backup' and wish to create user account only once in server-manager.

Have you found a way to do it.

Please share with us how you do it

Why do you want to 'synchronize' them?

Are these servers in different physical locations (miles apart)?

Or are you trying to cluster the servers?

Or something else?

I want to synchronise username and password from one sme to all the other one on our lan. The problem is we have to keep our Microsoft domain controller and we have to log to the microsoft domain controller, so I do create the same username and password on the main SME server. I wish to copy the passwd file and whatever file need to all other SME servers.

I don't believe you can just copy the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files from one server to an other. Unless I'm mistaken, each installation has its own encryption key and wouldn't know what to do with a shadow file from an other server.

However, if you know everybody's password, you could use lat-users to create the same accounts on the other servers. ( http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/mblotwijk/Contribs/lazy-admin-tools/ ).
