I have installed SME 5.5 on a machine but clients can't connect via Appletalk. Is there anything extra I need to enable ?

1)  Any reason you didn't use 5.6?  2)  Clients:  which OS?  3)  You DID set up ibays, didn't you?

I have an equal problem

I have one Mac which I have tried to hook up to 6.03

Mac is running 8.6 operating system
uses appletalk 7.62

I see the server in appleshare but when trying to view ibays etc. I get the following message.

The user authentication method required by the server can't be found. Please check the appleshare folder in the extensions folder and try again.

Any ideas - in addition to trying 5.6?

Thanks, Ken

Rob

I too am now having the same "user authentication" message on the mac side.

I just upgraded from 5.5 to 5.6.  It was working before, now not.

I recall doing something before to make it work. I can't remember what it was, but I think it was a module that had to be enabled. Something to do with the  password file.

I am trying to remember now, but it was a couple years now.

Sorry to post a non fix.

I just tried this and it works for 6.03 beta

You have to log in as root instead of admin and then type just as shown remember that upper and lowercase matter.
