Topic: Requesting Squidguard help

I installed the Squidguard package from contribs.org on my SME 5.6 system.

There was a error upon install. Something about the e-smith-transproxy-0.3-1 conflicting with e-smith-proxy-4.10.0-01.

After getting the package installed and completing a reboot of the server I am unable to access the server manager.

I have tried https://192.168.1.1/e-smith-manager, http://192.168.1.1/e-smith-manager, and http://192.168.1.1:980/e-smith-manager.

The only way I am able to access the server manager is to connect to my server using putty and creating a tunnel on port 980 and then bringing up the server manager by browsing to http://localhost:980/e-smith-manager.

Now that I figured out a way to access the server manager I thought it was a problem in the content filtering so I tried to click the Content Filtering link and all I get is a 404 error in the main window.

Any idea what I did wrong?

I am going to uninstall Squidguard for now because I have no idea if it is affecting something else...

On my systems, the link is       "server-manager"    rather than -smith-manager.

Correct.  Neither address works on my system.  e-smith-manager and server-manager point to the same page.

What version of e-smith-transproxy and e-smith-proxy is running on your system?

This really baffles me because I can access it if I use putty and a tunnel on port 980, but not from inside the network...

Did you get this fixed?  Where did you find the contrib?  The squidGuard contrib that I use is http://www.tech-geeks.org/servers/sme/squidGuard/

No, I have not had the opportunity to work on it.  I will be back where the server is this weekend and I plan to work on it some more.

I double checked what I had and it is the same contrib as to what I installed.  I have a feeling it has something to do with the e-smith-transproxy-0.3-1 conflicting with e-smith-proxy-4.10.0-01.

I will investigate further when I am physically at the machine.  When I installed it I was outside the firewall and using putty to ssh into the server.  I feel more comfortable doing the troubleshooting at the server just in case something really goes wrong.

No, I haven't Bob.  When I get back home and have a chance to physically sit at the server and troubleshoot it I will try that.

It appears to be woring now that I am physically at the server.

I still saw the conflict message with the services I mentioned before, but at least it is working now.
