Hello

I coulden't find the system requirements anywhere so i thought i'll post here.

Will e-smith work on a 486 computer?(hehehehehe i know its old but i dont like to throw it away yet)

If it does can i install it through ftp or nfs cause the computer i want to install it on hasnt got a cd-drive.[/i]

Take a look in the "Documentation" area. You find it on the left site of this page.
There you find the Technician's Handbook version 6.0 (PDF) and in there the requirements for the hardware.

Use better a CD ROM because it make the installation easier.

If you are just looking for firewall, where are many light firewall distros, that will be very fast and nice on the 486 CPU. SME 5 or 6 may be too slo-o-ow to manage on old hardware.

I already hav a firewall running on another 486  :-)  :-D  i wanted e-smith to run an email server. and i cant add a cd drive cause somefings wrong wid it. it wont let me add anymore IDE stuff.

I figured out how to do a nfs install so that dont matter anymore  :-D  :-D  :-D

I once had v 4. something running on a 486/33 with 8MB RAM - just to see ;-)
The performance was not very good - especially when a config change was made, it would take about 20 minutes to make the changes!
