Hi all
I'm sorry to be so negative. Normally i'm a verry positive guy, but some of the recent events at contribs.org, has made me consider the current situation.
This reply is therefore a reply to the people reacting on why i was negative aboutn the chat system - and first of all - a reply to contribs.org.
I'm happy that somehow my feedback gave some results.
First of all - i'm happy that we now have a direct way to communicate. My feedback wasn't about that.
No argument about that a chat system can be a valuable feature to contribs.org.
It was just a question about how contribs.org can afford to put yet another load on the server(s), in respect to Jeff Colemanns latest post abount raising money.
It was a simple "cry in the wild", to get someones (contribs.org) attention to the current situation, when nobody from the people behind contribs.org has made any effort to answeer some of the questions in the others threads about Jeff Colemann request for financial help.
Beeing questions about the size of money needed or a possible solution with free hosting with greater bandwidth among others.
And thats it - and still remains.
Has the economical situation changed, since Jeff Colemanns request for financial support, has been removed from the frontpage ?
(And now i'm happy that i didn't put this reply in Jeff Colemanns thread - it would just have disapered like his thread)
And this is all what this reply was about.
Just a request to the people behind contribs.org to settle down, and reply to the questions asked - in respect to their request.
Isn't this a fair wish ?
As it is now, i find that some of the people behind contribs.org / SME Server only makes the situation worser with their "announcements" - or lets just call it noise, if the situation isn't as they say it is.
Secondly - I'm a verry happy user of the SME/Mitel server for several years, and would be sorry to see this distro to discontinue.
But - I have to be practical.
And as it seems now, this distro is about to die because the hosting of the contrib is unstable/unsafe, caused by (mis)information from the people behind contribs.org.
And no matter what - the people at contribs.org *has* to make a reply on Jeff Colemanns request.
It may be a confirmation that the situation is bad, that it just was a "panic" announcement on a "bad" day, or that contribs.org is considering moving to some the the sponsered space - or whatever
But - please answeer.
If not - i must consider contribs.org as one of Jeff Colemanns private projects. With the risk of the SME going to nowhereland.
And honestly - this is not what i want to happen with SME.
Do i have to say Pleaseeeeeee.....
Best regards
