Warning Ver 6 File Deletion doesn't free up space!

SME is working from workstations but I am getting warnings on server screen about
/var/log/popd/current and several other
/var/log   items unable to write as out of disk space.

I was able to log in by typing control X at spash screen on boot up then press tab key and select system for single user then erase a few gigs of files no longer used by getting in from the workstation and rebooted hoping this would provide space but the problem continues.

Any ibays set up for local use only (no FTP or HTTP) now have a recycle bin and simply fill up the disk so one must erase from the recycle bin to claim space back. Or Erase files off the ibays with the http or ftp areas.

Additional file hogs include email -

Deleted files are not deleted until PURGED from imap folders. Anyone with a suggestion on setting a cron job to delete all deleted email over a month old automatically?

Clam antivirus needs to be cleaned of quarantined emaiil and problem email at

/var/spool/amavis-ng/quarantine
/var/spool/amavis-ng/problems

Perhaps a cron job to remove any of these over a month old?

Of course once exe blocking is used Clam antivirus has almost no work.

This leaves log files - I thought they automatically rotated and wouldn't get to big but am I wrong?

Anything else to look for. SME server seems to be taking 40 gig to run on top of my 35 gig of files so I must be overlooking something big.

After an unclean shutdown (power outage) when booting up one has 5 seconds at one point to force a file system integrity check. Any way to do this from the command line. Or to make a file system integrity check standard after a power outage?

What else can be done to check the hard disk or defrag it? Suggestions?
