Does anyone know if Darrell May's webshare will work on SME v6.0.1? Sounds like a great alternative to FTP.

Thanks

Ed

Where can I get it from Darell? I went to your site but I can't find it.
Can you send me a link to the rpm and HowTo?
Thanks

OK, Thanks

I have it installed now but why is it so sloooooow?
It takes forever for the security cert to come up and another 5 minutes to get into the webshare.

I have the Webshare up and running and it runs like a breeze - fast and handy when I need to store files. I use SME 6.01-01.
What I miss from webshare is that it would use the users/passwords from e-smith and that it would allow directories to be created

well actually you can create directorys but you have to untar phpfm.tar.gz in the webshare folder so untar it in /opt/webshare/you_share_folder/ and then you can make folders

It doesn't work :(
« Reply #7 on: October 25, 2004, 11:45:25 AM »
I have SME 6.01-01 custom and I have installed webshare using the install.sh.

It gives the user panel listed under Unknown and I can create a share and add users etc.  But when I try to access it, I can't, I get an error message.

I have tried to enable SSL on my server but this made no difference.  How can I see what is going wrong.

I am only currently trying to access the webshare internally, I will worry about external access once I have it working properly.

Thanks for any help.

what's the error message on the browser ?

i take it you went to https://SERVERNAME/webshare/SHARENAME

I've used it on a few different versions and haven't had a problem, well apart from the first time  ;-) till i worled out what i was doing wrong.

/etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf
will fix this after outputing a lots of messages on the screen, that can be ignored.

after you create webshare, you need to create user/password for it. This module does not use SME users/passwords.

I use webshare on my 6.0.01 box - FTP is locked down where I work - https isn't ;-)

To get rid of the mildly annoying "Unknown" in the server manager just log into the server as admin and rerun the server configuration  - it isn't necessary to change anything but it'll fix your prob.

It would appear that it may be related to my SSL not working properly as I have also installed PHPAdmin and that is not working either.
